Home of Cycling schools programme

We have partnered with the Home of Cycling to offer students and staff the opportunity to ride on the velodrome with an instructor from the Home of Cycling.

Schools Programme

During these sessions the instructor will take groups through a 45 to 60 min on-track session during which riders will experience the thrill of track riding.

Students are also able to experience a hands-on, interactive testing session using the same testing equipment as the elite athletes at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome. During these sessions students are assigned tasks to perform such as data collection, measuring heart rate on one of their peers during the test thus experiencing and learning about sport science and physiology.

They will also have the chance to learn from University of Waikato sport science staff who are regularly working with the elite athletes. The assessments can be compiled from field assessments such as sprint, agility and jump height and lab based assessments.
