Our students are taught by some of the world's best academic staff in sport, using state-of-the-art facilities to test athlete performance, exercise and recovery, and have the opportunity to work with some of New Zealand's top teams and sports organisations.
Undergraduate Major Subjects
Human Performance Science
Based on exercise physiology, skill acquisition and biomechanics, this major prepares you for working with the recreational sporting population, with emphasis on movement-related professions, exercise, nutrition and physical health.
Sport Development and Coaching
Build the skills to enhance sport, recreation and physical activity for groups and individuals. You will benefit from our relationships with top sporting organisations and teams in the region, e.g. Sport Waikato, Chiefs Rugby, Magic Netball and many more.
Healthy Active Living
This major combines knowledge and skills relating to prescribing physical activity and nutrition for health-related purposes, with a holistic understanding of health and key interpersonal and communication skills for health promotion.
World class facilities
Students have access to the Adams Centre for High Performance in Tauranga; the University of Waikato Sports Lab at the Cambridge Grassroots Trust Velodrome; and the Human Movement Psychology Lab and Human Performance Science Lab on our Hamilton campus.
