The Sport Development and Coaching major is based on an innovative combination of pedagogical and sociological studies of sport and active recreation.

Sport Development and Coaching is available as a first major for the Bachelor of Sport and Human Performance (BSHP). Sport Development and Coaching may also be included as a second major or minor in other undergraduate degrees, subject to approval of the Division in which the student is enrolled.

To complete Sport Development and Coaching as a single major for the BSHP, students must gain 135 points from papers listed for Sport Development and Coaching, including 105 points above 100 level, and 45 points above 200 level. Students must complete SDCOA101, SDCOA102; SDCOA201, SDCOA203, and 30 points from SDCOA202, HPSCI202, HPSCI206 or HTHPR202; and SDCOA301, SDCOA303, and SDCOA304.

To complete Sport Development and Coaching as part of a double major for the BSHP or other undergraduate degree, students must gain 120 points from papers listed for Sport Development and Coaching, including 90 points above 100 level, and 45 points above 200 level. Students must complete SDCOA101, SDCOA102; SDCOA201, SDCOA203, and 15 points from SDCOA202, HPSCI202, HPSCI206 or HTHPR202; and 45 points from SDCOA301, SDCOA303 and SDCOA304.

To complete a minor in Sport Development and Coaching, students must complete 60 points from the papers listed for the Sport Development and Coaching major, including at least 30 points above 100 level.
