This workshop will demonstrate three simple ideas for using collaborative Microsoft documents for learning and teaching. Then we will step you through how to easily share Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents with your own students and colleagues.
OneNote Love: Getting to the heart of collaborative notetaking and student portfolios
Get organised with OneNote for yourself and your students. We will explore how OneNote is used in education, and help you get setup with your own Notebook. The second half of the workshop will focus on how to use Class Notebook portfolios with your students, including the content library and collaboration space.

It is now possible to add a plug-in to your browser that engages with AI to answer Moodle multichoice questions. This workshop looks at what the plug-ins can and can't do, and offers practical suggestions for adjusting your multichoice questions to make it more difficult for them to provide answers.

Mei | May 10: 📚 Playing with Perusall
Looking for a way to help students engage more with their reading?
Perusall is a tool available through Moodle, which can help make reading an engaging, collaborative experience. This second workshop will focus on how to set up a Perusall component within your paper. This includes how to create a Perusall course in Moodle, how to upload materials, and how to create assessment tasks and link them to the Gradebook.

Mei | May 19: ✔️ Beyond Multichoice: Different Moodle Quiz Questions

This workshop looks at how to set up some alternative Moodle quiz questions such as matching, missing words, and multiple correct answers. Some of these question formats are more effective against GPT quiz extensions than traditional multichoice. There will also be an opportunity for participants to share examples of Moodle questions which have worked well.

Collaborative activities offer great potential for enhanced student engagement and peer to peer interaction, but these activities can also be challenging and isolating for students. In this workshop, we will look at strategies for facilitating more inclusive group work that will help to provide equitable experiences for our learners.

In this workshop, we will explore the concept of “metacognition”, which is often described as “thinking about thinking”. Participants will discuss the role that all instructors can play in developing more self-directed learners regardless of year level or discipline. We will learn about teaching approaches that help students become more aware of their own learning and support them in leveraging this knowledge to better self-regulate during the learning process.

Whiringa-ā-nuku | October 19: 📈 Increasing Evaluation Response Rates
Last year, evaluation response rates dipped to around 17%. By increasing your response rate, you can receive more meaningful information from your students while also gathering better evidence to demonstrate the quality of your teaching.
In this session, we will go over some strategies for increasing response rates. We will also hold a roundtable discussion to better understand staff needs and what the Evaluation Team can do to assist.
