Zoom profile settings
For students on how to change Zoom profile settings and other preferences.
Access Profile settings
- Select the Zoom app, then select Sign In.
- Select Sign in with SSO.
- Enter the domain name as waikato, then select Continue.
- Sign in with your normal university username and password. A Zoom window should now open.
- To reach the Settings panel, select your profile photo located at the top right of the Zoom window. This may just show your initials.
- Select Settings.
- Select Profile.
- Select Edit my profile. This will redirect you to the Zoom settings on your browser.
Change your Profile Photo
Note: First follow steps 1-5 in Access Profile Settings (above). Your version of Zoom may have My Profile or Change my picture as drop-down menu options, or you can keep going with steps 6-8 above.
- Hover over the profile photo and select the photo.
- Drag and drop your image or select Choose file to find an image to update your profile photo. Here you can crop your image too.
- Select Save at the bottom right.
Change your Profile Name
Note: First follow steps 1-8 in Access Profile Settings (above).
- Next to your name, on the far right, select Edit.
- Change your name by typing in a new name under First Name and Last Name.
- You can also change your Display Name. This is the name that other participants can see in a Zoom meeting.
Other Settings
Calendar Integration
You can integrate Zoom with Outlook, Google and Exchange calendars.
If you would like to fully sync your Outlook calendar with Zoom, follow the steps below.
- Sign in to the university Zoom account and go to your Zoom Profile.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Configure Calendar and Contacts Service.
- Select Office 365, then select Next.
- Tick the Calendar and Contacts Read and Write permissions, then select Authorize.
- Once you authorize, you'll be redirected to your profile page, and the syncing should be completed. Scroll down to check if Zoom is connected to your Microsoft account.
