We offer a broad range of science subjects and have flexible degree programmes to suit every learner, wherever they are in life or in their study journey. Our teaching staff are friendly and approachable and genuinely care about the students they teach and setting them up for success in their chosen career path.
Studying the impacts of climate change on our natural and managed ecosystems, and connecting scientific knowledge with that from other disciplines to ensure we can adapt.
We have particular research strengths in native forests, agricultural systems, wetlands, lakes and rivers, estuaries, and marine ecosystems, as well as the energy, water, carbon and nutrients that flow between them.
Our researchers work in Aotearoa's geologically active areas and Antarctica to study the Earth’s history, our natural hazards, and life at the extreme edge of survival.
Scientific research has the potential to deliver extraordinary innovations that change our lives and contribute to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Across all of our research, is a commitment to bring together the perspectives of western Science and mātauranga Māori. We're proud to undertake research in genuine partnership with local iwi and hapu.
