Disability Action Plan
The University of Waikato's Disability Action Plan outlines strategies to create an inclusive campus for all students. It covers accessibility, teaching, learning, and student engagement.
The Disability Action Plan was developed through consultation with staff and students and was endorsed by Council in December 2022.
The purpose of the actions outlined in this Plan is to communicate the University of Waikato’s commitment to improving participation and achievement in tertiary education for disabled students who as people with diverse identities and experiences are a key part of the diverse student group at Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato. This journey will include the wider staff and student body through the promotion of universal design principles and the promotion of equity and inclusion across the life of the University.
The Disability Action Plan supports and aligns to the University Strategy, Te Tiriti o Waitangi me te Whare Wānanga o Waikato – The Treaty of Waitangi and the University of Waikato statement, Academic Plan, Research Plan, Māori Advancement Plan and the Pacific Strategic Plan.
The Plan commits the University to working collaboratively with disabled students to realise their rights to education at Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato – The University of Waikato, to meet obligations outlined in international and domestic laws, domestic policies and all University principles that speak to inclusion.
