We launched our strategic partnership with Cardiff University in November 2021 to promote innovative collaboration and cooperation in the pursuit of academic and professional excellence. Our partnership with Cardiff University spans collaboration across research, student mobility, teaching collaboration, and professional services. The partnership includes funds to support collaboration projects.

The Cardiff-Waikato seed fund supports staff at Cardiff University and the University of Waikato in developing collaborative research, teaching, and/or professional services projects that have clear outcomes and a pathway to develop and sustain the collaboration.

Our collaboration seed fund is allocated over two calls annually, one in the Spring and one in the Autumn. However, we understand that on occasion, ad-hoc, short notice, specific, unique funding requests may also arise.
As such, and only if budget allows, we will consider rolling requests for funding up to the value of 2000 NZD / 1000 GBP.

Interested in collaborating with your counterpart at the Cardiff University/University of Waikato?
Our student exchange agreement with the University of Newcastle allows Waikato students to spend a semester or year studying in Newcastle and Newcastle students to do the same in Hamilton. Tuition fees are paid to the home institution and successful completion of papers abroad allows for credit to apply to the student’s home university degree programme.
